The full plan
Growth plan: Liam in China (@liamsourcing), 27 to 1,000 subscribers
Living document. YouTube Coach updates the "Current focus" and "What's working" sections every Monday from the revenue log. The original targets stay below for comparison.
Targets
- YouTube Partner Program ad-revenue tier: 1,000 subscribers, plus either 4,000 public watch hours on long videos (last 12 months) or 10M Shorts views (last 90 days).
- Early tier (fan funding, no ad revenue): 500 subscribers, plus 3 public uploads in 90 days and either 3,000 watch hours or 3M Shorts views.
- Milestones logged in milestones.csv: 50, 100, 250, 500, 750, 1,000.
Cadence (small-channel default)
- 4 to 5 Shorts a week and 1 long video every week or two. Shorts bring discovery; long videos bring watch hours and subscribers.
- Every Short points to a related long video, using the related-video link.
Series (repeatable formats built on what already works on this channel)
- "What it really costs": the factory price of one product compared with its retail price. Builds on the factory toy cost Short at 1K.
- "Satisfying factory": a machine or process with a curiosity hook. Builds on the satisfying toy Short at 1.2K.
- "Viral product scoop": trending products shown at the source. Builds on viral scoops at 1K and Halloween products at 1.1K.
- "Foreigner doing business in China": long-form, clear-premise videos. Builds on "How a Foreigner Runs a Sourcing Business in China" at 1.3K.
- Avoid: Shorts that are just a pitch (20 to 40 views) and long videos with vague titles (13 to 79 views).
Conversion levers
- End screens on every long video: best next video plus subscribe.
- A pinned comment on every upload asking a question, to drive replies.
- A spoken subscribe line placed after the payoff, never in the first 30 seconds.
- A channel trailer, plus playlists for each series, so viewers binge.
- Community posts (polls, behind-the-scenes, "which factory next?") once the tab is available. When locked, keep using pinned comments and Shorts replies instead.
Cross-promotion from Liam's other platforms
- On Douyin and Xiaohongshu, post a native version or teaser with "full video on YouTube: Liam in China" in the profile and caption, wherever the platform allows it. Rex owns the Chinese-platform content itself; YouTube Coach only suggests which YouTube videos are worth cross-promoting.
- Put the YouTube link in every bio Liam controls (store, Instagram, email signature).
Current focus (updated weekly)
- Week of 2026-10-12: start series 1 and 2 as Shorts, 4 this week, and plan the first long video for series 4.
What's working (updated weekly from the data)
- (no data yet; baseline 27 subscribers on 2026-10-11)
